What is your role and main responsibilities at Mint?

I am the Operations Manager for hospitality which means I oversee the running of the front of house desk.  My main responsibilities are to ensure all bookings are filled, clients are spoken to, and the guys on the desk know where they are meant to be throughout the week.

Can you describe a typical day in your role?

This is hard… as no two days are the same at Mint!! Main parts of my days involve speaking to clients about upcoming requirements and ensuring we have everything in place for them. I also get out and about a lot across the country to go and meet with them which is great.

What projects are you currently working on?

My main project currently is preparing for motherhood! I finish for maternity leave in June which is exciting to start a new chapter in my life but also scary having to handover all my work to someone else. I am most definitely a control freak so it has been hard letting go – but we are getting there!

How did you get started in your career, and what brought you to Mint?

I worked at Formby Hall Golf Resort as a waitress in the restaurant age 16, and continued to work there all through college and whilst I was at university. Once I had graduated I worked there full time and climbed the ladder until I was Bar & Restaurant Manager. I then moved onto a different hotel age 25, where we used Mint People as the agency supplier in the restaurant and this is how I met Reina. She came for a meeting one day and we just hit it off, next thing I knew I was at Mint and I have never looked back – it has been 7 years this year.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

A crazy busy week, with all bookings filled, happy clients and my team knowing they did a great job.

What skills do you find most essential for your role?

Most definitely multi-tasking!!! I have to write endless to do-lists to make sure I don’t miss anything.

How do you approach problem-solving and decision-making in your job?

I generally tend to trust in what my gut is telling me – but if I need to check it through with someone then there is always a great support system, with managers that answer the phone 24/7 if ever I need advice.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I don’t know if it classes as career advice but I use it this way, as well as in my personal life. When I was younger my mum always instilled into me not to worry or overthink too much about something before it has happened (if it is out of my control) – wait and see if it does and deal with it then. I think this has always changed the way I look at and approach things.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to read, binge watch criminal minds and have dinner with friends.

If you could have dinner with any person dead or alive, who would it be and why?

It would definitely have to be David Attenborough, I think that would be fascinating. Or Steve Irwin! That would also be amazing.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people at work don’t know?

When I get chance I love to go clay pigeon shooting with my dad and husband.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?Somewhere hot and quiet…. Bahamas or Maldives 🙂

What’s one goal you have for the coming year, either personal or professional?

As I will be out of work for 9 (ish) months I will have to say personal… to have a healthy happy baby.

Would you rather live in a world without music or a world without movies?

A world without movies – as movies without music would be weird.

Would you rather be able to speak any language or speak to pets?

Speak to pets! I would love to know what my bunny Prince is thinking…

What is your most used app on your phone?

Got to be Whatsapp… we have a million work groups!

A note from Meera our Operations Director.

We’re absolutely over the moon to have Samantha as an integeral part of our Mint Family! I remember meeting Samantha back when she was at the MacDonald Hotel, and her talent in food and beverage management immediately shone through. Since joining us six years ago, she’s proven time and again just how fantastic she is.

As our Operations Manager for Hospitality, Samantha’s dedication, stellar management skills, and unyielding commitment have driven her remarkable growth at Mint. She’s the reason our operations run like a well-oiled machine, and we couldn’t imagine our team without her expertise and hard work.

But Samantha isn’t just an amazing manager – she’s a wonderful friend to so many of us, myself included. Her warmth, positivity, and genuine care make her a joy to work with every single day. She’s always ready to lend a hand and her passion for her work is truly inspiring.

We’re also thrilled for Samantha, expecting her first baby in July! While we’ll miss her dearly during her maternity leave, we’re all so excited for her and can’t wait to welcome her back with open arms. Samantha, thank you for everything you do. We love you and are so lucky to have you in our Mint Family! xx
